Interview
For my interview, I decided to Interview my mentor, Debbie Miller, about how the workshop process went.
"What was your first reaction when I said I was doing a drama camp?"
"I wasn't surprised. I was excited because I knew what drama meant to you. I was really happy to see that you were using you passion and putting it to work with your capstone."
"Is there anything that you think could have gone smoother today?"
"Actually, I was pretty impressed with your planning. The behavior of the kids is always part of what happens during the day and you handled that very well. You did a very nice job of staying positive with them and what I really liked was that you kept reassuring them that mistakes happen and that mistakes are okay. When you shared real life stories with them, it helps them know that mistakes can happen in older plays that are being put on, and you just roll with it."
"Is there anything that you thought went exceptionally well today?'"
"They loved the Reader's Theaters. I loved your choices for their plays. The fact that they got to do each of the plays was excellent. The only other thing we could have done was switch parts in the plays. What I noticed was all the little girls wanted to be Miss Nelson or Viola, so it would have given somebody else the chance to do that."
"Is there anything that I could have communicated in a better way?"
"First of all, they were doing what you were asking , so obviously you were communicating well. You stayed very calm. Your demeanor is a very good one for working with children."
"
"If I decided to do something like this in the future, do you think that would be a good idea?"
"Yes, I do, and I'd be glad to help."
